Frequently Asked Questions

Print & Frame

With our Print & Frame service, you can upload your own photo or artwork and we’ll professionally print, frame, and deliver it ready to hang.

We accept JPG, PNG, or TIFF files up to 100 MB in size, with a maximum resolution of 200 megapixels. These formats give the best results for colour accuracy and sharpness in print.

Use the highest-quality version of your photo — ideally straight from your phone or camera. Bigger files mean clearer prints. If your image isn’t sharp enough, you’ll only be able to print smaller sizes. We can check your image before you order — send us a message via our contact page.

Yes — modern smartphone photos usually print beautifully. Always upload the original file (rather than a screenshot or image saved from social media) and for anyone sending you an image, ask for full resolution. Our system will flag any file that looks too low-resolution so you can choose another before ordering.

Screens display colours using light (RGB), which makes them appear brighter and more vibrant than printed photos. Prints use ink on paper, so they’ll naturally look a little darker and softer.

We use colour-managed printers and premium papers to match tones as closely as possible, but slight variation is normal.

Smart Enhance automatically adjusts brightness & colour, restores sharpness, removes noise and corrects for overexposure or underexposure. You can see a preview of what your image looks like with this applied and can choose to turn it off or on.

For print and frame orders, we can go up to A0 with an 80mm mat for paper behind glazing and 1500mm x 1000mm for canvas in a float frame.

For custom frames (where you supply your own artwork) no one side can be bigger than 1189mm and the combined width and height can’t exceed 2030mm (so the biggest would 1189mm x 841mm).

Yes — after you’ve uploaded an image and added it to your cart, you can upload a new one to create another frame. If you want extra copies of the same framed image, just duplicate it in your cart by tapping the icon between the pencil and the bin.

Yes — we can review your image for quality before printing. If you’re worried it might look pixelated or low-resolution, get in touch before you place your order and we’ll check the DPI and overall sharpness to make sure it will print beautifully.

We offer three professional-grade papers:

Enhanced Matte – A luxurious flat matte surface with sharp detail and rich colour.

Lustre Pro – Slightly glossy with a subtle, pearl-like texture — a great all-purpose photography paper.

Smooth Cotton Rag – Premium 270 gsm archival paper with a smooth matte finish, ideal for fine art and professional photography.

Yes — we print on Fine Art 420 gsm polycotton canvas, producing rich, detailed colour and a soft matte texture. Each piece is expertly stretched and framed in a premium float frame, arriving ready to hang straight from the box.

No — but we store them securely for a short time in case we need to reprint something for you. Your images are stored on our secure server for 90 days, then permanently deleted.

Custom Frames

Custom Frames are empty, made-to-measure frames for artwork, prints, and posters you already own. Each frame is handcrafted to your exact dimensions and delivered ready for you to insert your artwork and hang straight away.

If you’re ordering a frame only with no mat border, measure the full paper size of your artwork — edge to edge in millimetres.

If you’re ordering a frame with a mat border, measure the part of the artwork you want visible inside the window.

Watch our video on how to measure a print with a paper margin.

For custom frames, no one side can be bigger than 1189mm and the combined width and height can’t exceed 2030mm (so the biggest would 1189mm x 841mm).

For print and frame orders, we can go up to A0 with an 80mm mat for paper behind glazing and 1500mm x 1000mm for canvas in a float frame.

Then you've come to the right place! Every frame we make is made to order so standard sizes don't matter here. Our smallest frames are 100mm by 100mm and we can make very large frames as long as the combined width and height is less than 2030 mm and no single side is greater than 1189 mm.

Each mat border has a 3 mm overlap on each edge to hold your artwork in place. If you don't want this overlap, you can add 6mm to each dimension as you enter them onto the website to counter this.

The frame itself has a 5 mm rebate, meaning a small portion of the edges will sit behind the frame lip once assembled. This is to hold the glazing and the artwork in place and is standard with all frames.

Because everything is custom-made, we can’t offer returns — but if there’s a measurement error, let us know and we’ll work with you to get it fixed.

Yes — every frame includes a card with a QR code linking to our step-by-step video instructions. You can scan it anytime for a quick guide on how to safely insert your artwork.

Yes — we can build a frame for a special puzzle. Check out our page on this here.

No — we specialise in custom frames for prints and photos. For 3D items or special keepsakes like jerseys and medals, we recommend visiting your local walk-in framer for a more tailored solution.

Our frames

Our frames are made of solid wood and depending on the style they may have a wooden veneer or a painted surface. Each frame is made to order in our Melbourne workshop, and will protect your artwork for years to come.

For frames that include glazing, we offer UV Acrylic as standard, this gives 100% clarity the same as glass except is lighter and is 2-3mm thick. For smaller frames* there is an option to upgrade to standard clear 2 mm glass. You’ll choose your glazing option in the “Finalise your frame” step.

*Glass is available for frames up to A2 with a 50mm mat for Custom Frames and A3 with a 50mm mat for Print & Frame.

With the highest attention to detail, our museum-grade frames and prints are made right here in Australia.

So carefully crafted, we're confident they'll keep your memories beautiful and protected for decades — preventing landfill buildup and promoting a culture of longevity over disposability for a more sustainable future.

Each time you hang a Framefox frame on your wall, we help the ‘Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife’ plant native trees right here in Australia.

We have a curated palette of classic finishes: black, white, natural wood, and oak tones and also vintage styles — see our full range here.
